The Sara Project

Following the successful completion of the autonomous flight testing in Italy, the SARA consortium partners in Denmark have made further progress in the SARA drone development.

The new test activity proofed the ability of the SARA drone to estimate the distance in real-time between a moving maritime vessel or track and a tethered drone using GNSS RTK receivers.

Two GNSS RTK receivers were installed on top of a Caravan, one receiver acts as a moving base while the other as a moving rover. The test results are great, showing that the distance between the vessel and the SARA tethered drone can be estimated with high accuracy which helps to avoid stretching of the tethered cable.

Great results, which once again showed the ability of SARA to benefit to SAR and Surveillance operations on sea and ground.
